November Podcast Out Now!
- 09 November 2007
This month’s show includes extended features on the constitutional reform and opposition attempts to sabotage the process, an analysis of Socialism for the 21st Century and lots of information on the upcoming Hands Off Venezuela National Conference in the UK.
Two Venezuelan MPs, Augusto Montiel and Carolus Wimmer were recently in the UK to talk about the ideology and details behind the constitutional reform process currently taking place, and although opposition supporters organise both here and back in Venezuela against the revolution, as we hear in this show, it is clear which are more sinister in their approach. Plans have been hatched to disrupt the referendum, and we talk about recent meetings former US National Security Director Paul Wolfowitz and former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright have held with opposition sectors. In the last third of the show we have some of the highlights from a talk by Michael Lebowitz, who is based at the International Miranda Centre in Caracas, gave while on a brief trip to Toronto, Canada, where he outlines what Socialism of the 21st Century is and is not before explaining the development of this new model in Venezuela.
Music in the show includes a live performance recorded outside the United States embassy in London as well as a touching song regarding the children of Venezuela and their hopes. There’s also the usual burst of news, report backs and upcoming events including how you can help show support for the Venezuelan people during this period of heightened opposition action surrounding the referendum.
