- 26 August 2008
In this 2 part audio clip Sylvia Richardson, host of Latin Waves on CJSF radio, in Vancouver, Canada, interviews Jorge Martin, International Secretary of the Hands Off Venezuela campaign.

From the parasitical nature of the oligarchy and Imperialism who have relied on institutions like the World Bank, and the IMF, to the rising wave of Latin American initiatives (such as Telesur, and the Banco del Sud) which are having a limited, but progressive role in breaking with the domination of foreign capital. With insightful questions, and concrete answers Jorge and Sylvia continue the conversation on to the recent nationalization of the Banco de Venezuela; and the critical nature of such moves in order to shift wealth from the clutches of foreign bankers, such as Santander, a Spanish multinational banking corporation, into the hands of the workers and peasants as a publicly owned institution.
The interview points out how the crisis of capitalism as a system which is incapable of providing for the basic necessities and future prospects of the majority, even in the advanced capitalist countries. We hear about what is being done, and what can be done in order to end the crisis and move forward to begin fulfiling our true potential.
