The Venezuelan government has uncovered a confidential CIA memo dated November 20 2007 which details plans for a forthcoming coup attempt against President Chávez using this Sunday's referendum on constitutional reform as a pretext. This is a smoking gun that has not yet been fired and should be used to shame the US government into retreat.

A red sea of elected PSUV representatives greeted Chávez at the Caracas Poliedro on November 6th. They were there to launch the campaign for the constitutional reform referendum. Darral Cozens, a Hands Off Venezuela activist from Britain was also there.
